I have an existing desktop at home (Win-XP Pro, retail version) & a new Dell
desktop (pre-installed with Win-XP Home). I've configured my new D-Link 624+ wireless router and both PCs can now access the internet. My old PC accesses internet through the LAN port of the router (i.e. wired), while the Dell accesses it wirelessly through a PCI wireless card. I want to set up a home network, mainly to share the printer connected to my old PC through the USB port. How do I go about this? Do I set up a new network connection or do I use the existing connection? Please help!! Thank you. Rambus |

Right click on the printer icon, click on the sharing tab and select sharing. On the other PC, use the add printer wizard and select network printer. Tony |

You need to insert the XP CDROM into EACH machine, and from the menu, under Additional activities (or somesuch), 'Setup a home or small office network'. Once done, go to the NIC of each network adaptor in Network Connections, and check that File & Printer sharing for Mircosoft Networks is installed. You need to ensure also that the firewall of each machine allows the other to access it. Once you have each machine talking, Add Printer on one PC will allow you to access the printer installed on the other. __spc__ |
