Accessing value of a radiobuttonlist...

I have created a user web control (ascx file). It contains a databound
radiobutton list, which is retrieved during the init phase (only during the
initial load, not during postback).

How can I access the selected value of the radiobutton list before the load
event fires for the control, or the page that the control is placed on?
