tool to point out os dependence problems?

One thing that I've always liked about python is that itmakes it*pretty easy to write programs that run acrossoperating*systems.
After running in to a problem today with os.renameI am wondering if there is a tool out there that canpoint out any known os dependence issues.
A quick trip to google shows nothing obvious.
