Help

Managed to connect pc and 2 Acer aspire laptops to router through ethernet
wires. Tried to connect laptops wirelessly but both found network-good
strength but when I click on the internet explorer icon it comes up with
canot connect to server.

Can somebody give me guidance as to what I should be doing to get laptops
wireless.

You really need to keep the same discussion in the same thread; many of us
are using a news client, not a web browser, to read this messages. By
starting a new thread, we lose any continuity of the discussion; the
messages become disjointed.

In that other thread, I requested that you post the ipconfig -all output
from one of the laptop computers. In Windows XP, if you don't see an icon
shortcut to the "CMD" prompt, use the Run link, and type 'cmd' in the box.
When you get a "DOS box", type 'ipconfig -all' at the prompt. You should
get a list similar to this one:

N Miller

Also tried to ping router when trying wireless connection but got message
not reachable. Could there be a problem with wireless side of router. Also
read that trying it too near router can cause problems as well. But tried
laptop upstairs with same result.

Only other thing i thought about was the fact that I connected router to my
pc first and then ran network wizard on my pc and then copied onto disc and
then installed on laptops. If my Pc is not wireless could this be the
problem and how to I reverse this.

Is the router configured to supply IP addressess dynamically? You can
check this by connecting your laptop with a cable to one of the four
ports on the router. Then using a browser type:

http://192.168.1.1

a password request screen should appear. Username should be blank but
password is:

admin

No you need to go to setup screen. Under Internet configuration type
you have 5 choices one of which is DHCP.

Make sure the router is set to DHCP and save the settings before closing
the browser.

Network Set up-router IP and subnet-192.168.1.1 and 255.255.255.0


In the Network Address Server Settings-DHCP Server is enabled
Starting IP address is 192.168.1.100
