By starting a new thread, we lose any continuity of the discussion; the messages become disjointed. In that other thread, I requested that you post the ipconfig -all output from one of the laptop computers. In Windows XP, if you don't see an icon shortcut to the "CMD" prompt, use the Run link, and type 'cmd' in the box. When you get a "DOS box", type 'ipconfig -all' at the prompt. You should get a list similar to this one: ================================================== ========================= Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . : MEGUMI.aosake.net DNS Servers . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 206.13.31.12 206.13.28.12 Node Type . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast NetBIOS Scope ID. . . . . . : IP Routing Enabled. . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . : No NetBIOS Resolution Uses DNS : No Ethernet adapter : Description . . . . . . . . : HP EN1207D-TX 10/100 Family Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . : 00-10-B5-77-E6-46 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.102.100 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : 192.168.102.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . : 192.168.102.1 Primary WINS Server . . . . : Secondary WINS Server . . . : Lease Obtained. . . . . . . : 09 22 05 23:46:35 Lease Expires . . . . . . . : 09 25 05 23:46:35 Ethernet adapter : Description . . . . . . . . : usb-usb network bridge adapter Physical Address. . . . . . : 00-50-77-01-66-DE DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 172.29.61.1 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : Primary WINS Server . . . . : Secondary WINS Server . . . : Lease Obtained. . . . . . . : Lease Expires . . . . . . . : Ethernet adapter : Description . . . . . . . . : PPP Adapter. Is the router configured to supply IP addressess dynamically? You can check this by connecting your laptop with a cable to one of the four ports on the router. Then using a browser type: http://192.168.1.1 a password request screen should appear. Username should be blank but password is: admin No you need to go to setup screen. Under Internet configuration type you have 5 choices one of which is DHCP. Make sure the router is set to DHCP and save the settings before closing the browser. Hope this proves useful. dennisjubb wrote: > > "N. I will check that out when I go home. I can certainly get to
http://192.168.1.1 with the laptops. Cheers Dennis "ANONYMOUS" wrote: > > Is the router configured to supply IP addressess dynamically?
