Cannot open links that in on my email

I have windows xp and my email is outlook express. I cannot open links that is in my outlook express or my web based email. I checked for solutions on the computer and they mentioned that if explorer is not your default web prowser you good have this problem but explorer is my default web prowser. I hope somebody could help me with this problem.
