At least they don't expect 93% discounts to be honoured because of the
pricing error. Stupid b----.

It wasn't Sears. It was another vendor. Sears.com is a bit like Amazon
in that other vendors can put their stuff up for sale there.

Years ago, (perhaps they still do) Sears had a policy that whatever
was marked on the package in a store was the price you paid. Even the
dullest hammer-head can't expect that to extend to online, to
electronics with razor-thin profit margins?

I think the in-store policy is a state law in Massachusetts. But I'm pretty
sure it doesn't apply to newspaper and TV ads, on-line ads, etc.

One of the supermarkets here in town has a store policy that if a
product rings up at a price that is higher than the shelf ticket
indicates, the customer gets the product at no charge.

The store also honors advertised prices that are mistakes if the price
in the ad is lower than the price in the store, but they only honor
the lower price until they post an ad that corrects the price.

Both are store policies, not laws.
