You guys desperatly need to switch to female mice, mice with balls are terrible. I have a plethora of mice, all of 'em optical or laser mice, I couldn't use a ball mouse anymore, I've tried, I got too frustrated. It's almost as bad as using the laptop's little touch pad. ugh!

....the touch pads. Except when the driver messes up, then it's a pain. But normally, being able to tap, drag, and do all those mousy things without a mouse on the side of the laptop is great. It sure beats the pointing stick.

Razer's new Copperhead is 2000dpi, laser, has its own processor, it really looks like a killer mouse. I've got their diamondback, 1600dpi, its only problem is that it was too light. So I modded it and added weight to it. I use the Logitech MX1000 for most stuff and the Razer for gaming.
Optical mice can be had for next to nothing these days, ain't no reason to be using a ball mouse now a days. Even cheapness.

The Copperhead does look nice, yet expensive. The Sunbeamtech X-1300 is only 19.99 and it can switch between 1300 and 650 dpi.

all mouses pretty much have a on board processor... wether it be 18 mips or 100 Mips.

Which new laser mouse? The MX1000?
In the case of the on board processor here, it's not the same thing as you're thinking of. Check their sites and look over white papers on it.
Yeah, no doubt the Sunbeam is a lot cheaper, but, until I get my hands on one to compare it, I tend to stick to the old adage of "you get what you pay for". A 1300dpi mouse for $20 seems a bit unlikely, to me, to be something of quality.
