And, as if to prove my previous statement correct, along comes DUH-ane
with one of the inanities for which he's famous.

Remind me again: who suggested starving innocent people thinking it might

You would appear to lack either of those virtues, hence 'misanthrope',
you mad cow.

"The battle against socialized medicine depends on the doctors speaking out
against itónot only on practical grounds, but, first of all, on moral grounds.
The doctors must defend themselves and their own interests as a matter of solemn
justice, upholding a moral principle, the first moral principle:
self-preservation."

Leonard Peikoff offers no alternative for sick and dying people. His basic
philosophy is, "**** you, it's immoral for me to help you because that goes
against my own self-preservation". Of course a doctor who took the Hippocratic
Oath, and didn't sign-on to make a seven figure income would disagree with this
blow-hard. There are plenty of doctors that are working because they enjoy
helping people, not all are money-grubbing scum (but too many of them are).

Some things just shouldn't be "for profit", even in the most Capitalist of
nations. In fact, they should be setting the example for a future civilization
where someone does not have to die or live in constant pain because they don't
have enough money.

He's (Peikoff) 73 now, let's see how good his insurance is because he'll soon be
using it. I wonder if he accepts his Medicare entitlement, or is that "immoral"
too?

Is he supposed to be a doctor of medicine or something????? If he is, his
first moral principle is 'do no harm'. In my book, that also includes not
withholding treatment on any grounds.

That's ****ing shocking.

Doctors don't enter the service of our NHS to become wealthy. That said,
I read somewhere a while ago that the average GP in this country can earn
£100,000 + annually, which ain't bad.

Health-care and education being two.

If that happens here, it must be extremely rare.

These people adapt their 'principles' to suit any given set of
circumstances.
