All of these hacks ... what happens when MS Update offers security patches
for Windows Mail in Windows Vista? Will they include them with the Windows 7
security patches?

See the link in techspot that I posted and read the comments there about
how the system is protected from updates causing a problem.

It sounds to me like a very workable system and worth doing for someone
who wants the modern equivalent of OE in Win7.

I have used WM in Vista and I have used OE for many years and WM is
quite satisfactory.

The reports on WLM especially the newest v. are that it is not acceptable.

It is going to be much much more convenient for an 'old' OE user with OE
stores and files to be using WM than it is to be using some other
mail/news agent.
