Hello all,
I have an issue that bugs me allot but not frequently. I am running
windows Vista64 Premium and when I do certain types of file access to
my USB storage it causes a computer restart. One of the examples is
trying to create a new folder on the usb memory stick through the
"Save As" dialog box in Acrobat 7. The folder creates successfully,
but when I try to click on its name to rename it I get a hard restart
of the computer. The same thing happens when I access other usb
storage devices like USB microscope. Note that when I try to create a
folder and rename it or do any other file operations on my USB memory
stick though explorer (My Computer) the computer does not crash.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
Windows 7 is set to automatically restart when a severe error occurs
without giving you the opportunity of taking note of it.
First of all you'll have to disable the automatic restart.
Here's how:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/window...-windows-7.htm
After that, try to provoke the failure and take note of the error.
You might want to google that error before returning to us.

As Carlos suggests, set your Windows to not automatically restart on failure
and that should give you a chance to see the actual error. Then from there,
you'll have an indication of the source of the restart. From there, we can
help if your "bingle" on the error doesn't point you clearly at the problem.
