No, moron, it isn't. There is no 'z' (pronounced 'zed') in the word.

I don't find that 'no idea' answer responsive, because it doesn't
address whether or not you /tho't/ some perp sabotaged your router - or
maybe sabotaged your router - or might have sabotaged your router.

I don't mean 'in accordance with' anything.

I mean how did you conclude/determine that you should flash your
router's firmware? Based on what troubleshooting or problem?

Somehow I sense that you got some kind of 'hinky feeling' that there
must be some malware hiding in your router because you didn't know how
to prove that there wasn't, so you tho't it would be a good idea to
flash it.

I can't even prove that there is not a microscopic brain tumor inside my
own head.

The business about not being able to prove that there isn't 'something'
inside even some open source software, much less proprietary software or
firmware in a router or firmware in a computer or firmware in a
cellphone will make you crazy if you let paranoia get too much of a grip
on your rational thinking.

Are you talking about some kind of VNC or other remote admin ware?

Why would you do that?

I don't understand how someone can be gobbled up with paranoia and
suspicion/fear and gullibility all at the same time.

Indigestion.

Mainly for the learning experience, but also to change the default
username from 'virgin' to something less guessable. And add some extra
bells and whistles.

Virgin Netgear routers have been set up without the full feature set of
the real thing.

I've got one here that's never been out of the box.

It isn't. Virginmedia since the days of NTL.

No idea. Yet.

Told you- it's never been out of the box. Got two phones in there too.
