Buy the fastest multi core processor you can get.
Put as much ram as your hardware and OS can manage.
Invest in high spindle speed drives design for audio/video applications.
Strip out unnecessary services & applications. Note: This is a dedicated
audio workstation. Stick other crap on it and you'll be back to square one.
Use a 64bit operating system & 64bit applications if possible which will
maximise the above.
