My wife and I both just got new computers with Win-7 (64) I found out
how to join an existing Network by simply right click 'Computer' >
properties > then down towards the bottom, where it says Computer
Name/ Network, click the Change Settings, the next window shows a
button to change or join a network/domain I had no problem on my wifes
PC but on mine the button is grayed out and I am forced to keep the
network that setup gave me.

Oops, I figured it out, I have to click Change computer name button,
then the network workgroup name can be changed in there... (exits with
tail between legs)
