RAID mode vs SATA mode

This mobo (Asus M4A87TD EVO) has 6 sata ports.

In the bios there are two options: (1) you can turn set ports 1-4 to
SATA or RAID and/or (2) you can set ports 5-6 to SATA or RAID.

I want to use a 3 disk raid-0 setup. But I also want the other 3 sata
ports to be used by single-non-raid drives...

So.. the question: if I switch ports 1-4 to 'raid' mode, but only want
to use 3 disks in my raid array, is there any chance I can still use
the 4th port for a single drive?

Anyone ever tried something similar?

If the JBOD disk is not part of a container set it will be considered
just a JBOD regardless of the port it's on.
