Only thing it's hard on is the top end. If you heard it run and didn't
hear a loud rappin sound you might be ok. My IT 425 rapped when it got
hot but it was a design issue. Rather have it rap than seize the top
wrist pin.

I kinda figured that. Is there a good filter that clamps straight to the
carb body? I'm missing the stock airbox.

It sounded quite healthy when it ran. Haveta wait-n-see what the master
mechanic
recommends. If he's going to do a top end then I'm gonna ask about the
head modification to get 8mm shaved/radiused thats supposed to fix
alotta issues these yz's have.

Raising the compression on a 490cc motor isn't that great of an idea. It
will be hell to start unless it has a compression release. And it will
lean rev. It will give it a few more ponies but you'll have to run a
cooler plug so more chance to foul. The 490 is already known to ping when
hot like my old 425 did. The compression raise may help the soft bottom
end but the 490 was a brute mid-powerband. I'd definitely do the top end,
bore or hone, depends on how worn the liner is. If it's a hone to get the
liner straight you can fit the same piston/rings. If you go over 20 on a
bore, new piston/rings. The shop will know what to do if they are
familiar with yammy 2 strokers.
