Didn't see a Windows 7 group, I'm guessing this issue is NOT limited to just
the 64 bit Windows 7 OS.

My issue, in XP you could look at a DETAILS view of your files in Windows
Explorer. You could sort those files by TYPE. I would then look for my data
files type, select certain files while holding my control key. Then I would
resort the list by NAME.

This allows me to select MY_CUST_DATA.DAT but then resort the list and see
there is also a MY_CUST_DATA.BAK, MY_CUST_DATA.IDX, MY_CUST_DATA.IMG. I
could then go on and (still holding my control key) select the additional
files.

Two reasons for doing things this way, when sorted by TYPE, all my data
files are close together in a directory with a few thousand files, all those
types would fit on one or two screen scrolls. Then resorting by name, I
could scroll to find those previously selected and add their RELATED files
(by name) to my selection list.

Wouldn't you know, in Windows 7, when you RESORT the list, it AUTOMATICALLY
DESELECTS all currently selected files! GENIUS!!

I suppose now I could use the fancy new Windows Search but this was SO MUCH
EASIER!

I'm hoping someone out there has a Registry Value trick to allow explorer to
MAINTAIN PREVIOUSLY SELECTED FILES when you resort the detail list. Like
Word no longer supporting the INSERT key for over writing text, unless you
change a options setting; then it works, but now gives no status bar
indication which mode you are in Overwrite or Insert. But that is
another story!
