ObjectInputStream over socket problems

I've got some software that has been running for years. I recently
upgraded to Windows 7 and JDK1.6.0_20 and now the client end throws
EOFExceptions. Nothing has been changed except the OS and a minor Java
version. Anybody else run into this?
