Well, the cable guy came and plugged in my broadband connection, then I
connected up my PCs to the new wireless kit I just bought and with careful reading of the the instuctions got them to all access the internet no problem .... but .... they cannot see each other's hard drives. Could some kind technically-minded person advise whether I am chasing a false dream here ? All I want is to be able to copy Word etc. documents from my laptop to my desktop...wirelessly. All computers are running Windows XP. All computers have IP addresses in the format 192.168.1.xxx All computers have "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" enabled All computers belong to the workgroup "HOMELAN" Yet when I browse to My Network Places, then Entire Network, then Microsoft Windows Networks, the Homelan folder displays but it is empty. Help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks Nick fisherofsouls@hotmail.com |

Sorry, some more info I should have included:
I have shared a folder on the laptop hard drive. Also, on the deskop, when I try to view the HOMELAN folder, I get the following message: "Homelan is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." Finally, the desktop can PING the laptop no problem, but when the laptop tries to ping the desktop, the request times out !!!
