My mother has a new Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu-Ray player purchased here in
Canada. She'd like to be able to play AVI files that I burned onto DVD disks for her. Is there any way that this machine will do that? If not, what format would I have to convert these AVIs to and what program(s) could I use to make the conversion? On a related subject, the specs I've seen online for this player sometimes claim that it can handle DivX and/or Xvid but sometimes they say they can't play those formats. Does anyone know if the Canadian model of this player does or does not handle DivX and/or XVid? Also, what is the connection between AVI and DivX/XVid? I have the feeling that AVI is some kind of subset of either DivX or Xvid but I don't really know how they are related and what the implications of that are. If someone would clarify that, I'd appreciate it! -- Rhino Rhino |

Also, the box her player came in will declare what compatibilities it has. Spend some of YOUR OWN time attempting to garner a bit of knowledge, silver platter pushbutton boy. Archimedes' Lever |

I use a free program called Free Video to DVD Converter for all my avi to
DVD conversions so I can play on my DVD player and have had great success. Google for this program and you will be very happy. -- Walt "Rhino" <> wrote in message news:hc7119$c4i$... > My mother has a new Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu-Ray player purchased here in > Canada.
