Google still make income on spammer posts so are not keen to block them. > I'm open to suggestions > > Stephen I use Thunderbird and have some filters set up to drop threads that match criteria such as email address and subject. You should be able to do much the same in Outlook Express. If it gets much worse, there are some news providers that will filter the feed for you. -- Adrian C Adrian C |

I just took a peep at GG, and ICWYM! Eternal-September is free, and the server administrator is very accessible if you have any queries. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% Graham. |

I route my mail via a Gmail account for precisely this reason - my spam dropped overnight from 150+ a day to less than a dozen. >> I'm open to suggestions >> >> Stephen > > I use Thunderbird and have some filters set up to drop threads that > match criteria such as email address and subject. It's nothing special compared with anything else and I suspect it's built upon Postini, seeing gmail/google own it. What is relevant is gmail/google/postini ranges are *known* sources of spam. It's not uncommon to see operators of non-trivial mail servers restricting or blocking such ranges. -- political correctness: The safety net protecting deaf blind disabled ethnic minority gays & lesbians with odd religious beliefs from reality Spamtastic Spastic |

The spam would disappear sometimes in a day or two, or on one occasion within seconds (I noticed the number of threads dropping on changing pages). So I was hoping that the filters could be educated into recognising some of the common spammers ... But after a huge clean-up, to the point were this group had only about a handful or two of spam threads remaining in the last 12 months, it's stopped working Whether the system is automatic and has failed, I'm starting to doubt, and I'm now wondering if deletions were being done manually and someone has got fed up with being overworked andy |
