I have got my laptop networked over a wireless network and it currently
shares the "Scheduled Tasks" folder on my computer, i am wondering how to not share that folder on the network. My laptop is running XP home SP2 Andrew C |

I don't use it, but do you show a TASKS folder in your Windows directory?
If so, can you change the permissions to make it private? You can make so that Windows will not look for scheduled tasks when browsing
the network. This should also make the overall performance faster. 1. Open Regedit (Start -> Run -> regedit) 2. Open up HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace 3. Under the NameSpace branch locate the subkey folder {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} and highlight it. If you see a listing for Scheduled Tasks show up on the right pane you know you have the right subkey. 4. You will need to make a backup of this subkey folder. Right-click on the key and select Export. Save the file to a folder on your computer and give it a name that you'll remember. 6. Now, Right-click the subkey folder and delete it. 7. Close the Registry Editor, and restart Windows XP. Now the scheduled tasks should not show up, and you'll notice that browsing the network is faster. =?Utf-8?B?TWl4TmV0?= |
