Acuter and Celestron 16-48x65, 20-60x80 & 22-67x100 Spotting Scopes
have identical optics, bodies and cases. The only difference, apart
from the badges, is the sight tube for quick targeting on the side of
the Celestron models which is absent on the Acuters. (While this is
not essential for daylight use it is very useful if the scope is used
for stargazing.) Removing the rubber eyecup from the eyepiece will
reveal a T2 mount (42mm, 0.75mm pitch thread).

Conversion Lens Adapter LA-DC52G is required for the Canon Powershot
A590 IS. A generic adaptor is available on eBay for 570/590 - this has
a 52mm internal thread and can be fitted with a 52/42(0.75) adaptor.
The adaptor fits the spotting scopes mentioned and also the Zenith
Biolam microscope camera adaptor CA-3, which also has a T2 mount. Note
that the Biolam can only be used with its 7x eyepiece the 15x sits
too high in the camera adaptor and will hit the lens surround as it
extends! The CA-3 adaptor can be rotated at its base as required and
the digital zoom feature on the Canon is very handy for accurate
focusing. When used with the spotting scope eyepiece, the 52/42
adaptor will need to be loosened slightly to align the camera
horizontally or vertically.

The only other annoyance is the lack of an electronic viewfinder,
although the Nikon P5000, P5100 and P6000 have the same shortcoming.
EVF equipped compact cameras all seem to have large diameter lenses
which are unsuitable for digiscoping, such as Panasonic DMC-FZ28.
