OK, OK! I went to the control panel selected Sounds, etc., and selected "No
Sounds". Everytime a 'pop-up appears, so does the sound. OK, OK! Then I
went to C:\Windows\Media & changed the names of a bunch of wav files.
Everytime a 'pop-up appears, so does the sound. OK,OK! I renamed the Media
folder. Everytime a 'pop-up appears, so does the sound.

Could the sounds be coming from my anti-virus program? I am using PC Shield
2008. It seems the sound I used to get when I tried to adjust the volume by
means of the 'task bar' icon is gone.

Goodwill,
Luke
