Can't Reformat Computer

Hello, I Cannot Reformat My Other Laptop Becuase When I Put The Boot Disk In and Run It The Version Of Windows Is Too New, But If I Boot It From CD the computer After Like 5 Minutes of the stuff loading the computer gives me an error and tells me to check my BIOS settings. PLEASE HELP!!!
