HighMAT movie won't play on DVD player--Help

I created a video movie using Microsoft Movie Maker 5.1. The resulting .wmv won't play either on my Toshiba HDMI or Symphonic DVD player (both about 3 years old).

Is there a fix; e.g., coversion program?

I have had the same problem with Movie Maker. I assume the problem is that most players don't recognize the HighMat format. If it is something else I would like to know.
