MCITP SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008

If you're thinking about waiting for SQL Server 2008 to get your MCITP
on SQL Server, you might want to reconsider. You may be waiting until
well into the year 2009.

A November Live Meeting on SQL Server 2008 certifications was
postponed to December and then again postponed to February 2008.
According to Trika (http://blogs.msdn.com/trika/default.aspx) they
were postponed simply because there isn't any information to pass
along.

The first exam (MCTS 70-432) will likely come out about one to two
months after SQL Server 2008 is officially released (possibly summer
of 2008, well after the February release event). Then, it's very
likely that the MCITP exams won't come until 6 months to a year after

2007/12/11/sql-server-2008-and-certifications.aspx). Gerry makes some
good points for delaying the MCITP exams.

Gerry mentions just what I've seen - that the features in SQL Server
2008 are generally the same as in SQL Server 2005. A MCITP
certification in SQL Server 2005 will likely be viewed as also having
the majority of SQL Server 2008's knowledge.
