I thought I multi posted this; however I have remedied that with this
reply. Vlad Mazek has posted his thoughts to this as well. I am also in
the process of emailing Microsoft with my professional thoughts and
ideas they could implement instead of the current proposal. If you are
an action pack subscriber, I recommend you do the same.

Yeah, I know Vlad. He is the Exchange god, IMHO. I have had the
opportunity of meeting and talking with him in the past and via email.
He seems to share my thoughts concerning this recent news -- as do many
professionals that subscribe to MAPS or know of the program. I emailed
him to get any info as to the correct person(s) to contact concerning
this issue. Hopefully we as a whole can change the minds of Microsoft
and get this taken care of before it spins out of control.

Again, sorry for the multiposting. I responded to the wrong post:

I have sent this email to MAPS-:

I was appalled when I read Eric Ligman's post regarding downgrade rights
for MAPS
(http://blogs.msdn.com/mssmallbiz/arc...ion-pack.aspx).
I have read the MPPAPIA several times now. No where in the Addendum does
it mention "time bomb" licensing. No where does it mention "no downgrade
rights". I understand and agree that the licensing is directly related
to your MAPS subscription; and once your subscription expires and not
renewed, the licenses also enter a state of expiration.

In my opinion, as well as numerous other MAPS subscribers, this is a
very bad move for Microsoft and the MAPS Program. A majority of us
continue to service clients that have no plans to upgrade to Windows
Vista or Office 2007 in the near future. Forcing us to upgrade to the
newest, latest programs hampers our ability to continue offering service
to those clients. Why I am forced to uninstall Windows XP and Office
2003 from my internal computers that I use to troubleshoot client issues
with or forced to uninstall Windows Small Business Server R1 just
because R2 is made available. If I knew about this BEFORE entering the
subscription, I would have nothing to be concerned with. But no where in
the MPPAPIA is this mentioned.

Please advise. This news has not been taken lightly by MAPS subscribers.
Microsoft, nor the MAPS Programs, can delay an explanation on this
matter and let it spin out of control.

Yeah the MVPs are going apesh*t over this... I'm not a subscriber (Gold
Certified Partner) so it doesn't affect me... but I understand the uproar!
