Although your existing certifications or test scores won't become
invalid when the new mcts is released, it is correct that you will
have to take at least 1 exam per certification to upgrade ur MCTS from
2.0 to MCTS 3.5.
You should check this discussion. Microsoft certification's GERRY O
BRIEN has answered the questions and you shouldn't really need any
other better source!
The gist of it is that if you have finished your MCTS or MCP 2.0 in
web/windows/distributed by the release then you will have to take 1
exam to upgrade from 2.0 to 3 or 3.5..(don't know the test version
name)
but if you've only completed it partially I really don't know what'll
happen. Like I have passed 536, but should I take 528 to complete MCTS
web devt? or will 536 will still be relevant for the MCTS 3.. Or will
microsoft still offer the older exams or just offer the new ones and
recognise the older ones.
As far as your MCTS certification goes it won't be retired for at
least 10 years, but u have to update every 3 years.
