Provocation is only grounds for mitigation, not any kind of excusation.
This one's pretty B+W.

You can't accept it and

Speaking of this 'suing' business.

There's a problem in that your daughter has been 'damaged' by the exchange
and its consequences, which exchange was clearly initiated by the spoiled
bratboy. Her suspension will not look good on her record for a number of
things that the highschool resume might be used for; a job with
managerial potential, college applications, military service
opportunities.

Normally I'm completely against people suing each other to make lawyers
happy, but there /are/ considerations when there is damage, ergo a tort.

If you/she should sue him/hisparents for (verbally) assaulting her and
provoking her into her (allegedly justifiable) response, which response
got her suspended and her future damaged -- then you would have to spend
some bucks on your lawyer, but which suit would result in his parents
having to spend some bucks on their lawyer.

In order to calm down all of the buck spending, your lawyer (you/she)
should agree to settle for a letter of apology from bratboy to your
daughter.

The upshot of all of that is that she would have some decent paper work
which makes her side of the situation look a lot better than just being
suspended for hitting on - battering - someone -- so that if she ever has
to do damage control to help her get a job or a college admission that is
being hindered by this suspension business, she will be prepared.

Now, if you are really a hothead and are willing to spend even more bucks
on this deal, you could probably make his parents spend a lot of bucks as
well and actually taking it into civil court instead of settling after the
papers fly.

How can anything that occurs during one's school days have any effect on
job prospects in the real world?

I was suspended a number of times when I was in secondary school and
actually expelled from two schools (rebel without a clue <G>). When it
came to job applications after I left the only thing that mattered to
prospective employers were the results of my state examinations taken in
my last year of school('O' Levels, of which I had seven at 'A' grade)
which were well above average.

Any job for which I ever had to attend an interview I got.

Other than supplying a transcript with my college applications, nobody
has ever asked for anything beyond the name of my high school and
whether and when I graduated.

In fact, nobody ever asked for any more than that about my college
experience.

I suppose it's remotely conceivable that somebody went a little farther
than that when I got security clearances, but even that's a bit
far-fetched.

Unless your actions resulted in a police record, nobody really cares
what you did in high school.

At the stage when you are just graduating or preparing to graduate from
HS, there is often a great deal of competition for the next level -- such
as which college you would like to attend, whether or not you get into
officer candidate school, which one of a number of job applicants a
manager should hire.

The HS senior tries to compete with highschool grades, which highschool
courses matriculated, highschool honors, and highschool extracurricular
activities to 'beat out' other applicants for the same position/ seat/
admission.

The senior tries to come up with as many positives compared to other
applicants as possible, and to have as few negatives as possible.

Having an out-of-school disciplinary suspension on one's 'record' for
battering another student would be considered a negative which might need
some mitigation.

There _are_ jobs and positions where it doesn't matter whether you have a
HS diploma or national citizenship or residency or not -- but some
competitions are more stringent.

My first guess would be that woman in California who had 8 babies at once.
She had 6 before that...

I bet her snapper is NEVER gonna be tight again!

Put flyers around the school telling how the other kid went telling tales
after being slapped by a girl.

The taunts should leave him psychologically damaged well into adult life.

The fact that the boy felt perfectly free to refer to the girl as a "****ing
bitch" proves he already *has* some psychological problems. I hope they *don't*
follow him into adult life.
