Default Why is network browsing slow

I have a simple network configuration with two computers and
a hub. Both PC are running XP on a workgroup setting.
Default IP protocol is used. One of them also has a
wireless connection to the Internet. The problem is when I
open up Network Place or browsing with Windows Explorer, it
takes one minute or longer for the other PC to show up. Why
is that?

It would be difficult to troubleshoot this without being directly in front
of it. Did you try hard-connecting the wireless PC (it sounds like that's
the slower one) to the hub? By the way, I'm going to presume that it's a
router, not a hub, or there's a router, somewhere in there.

Does the slower computer have a slower processor, or less RAM? Does it have
spyware? Is it "clean", in general, has the HD been reformatted in recent
memory?

Try Firefox, insted of IE, sometimes that alone makes a difference.

Best wishes,

If you connect using UNC does it still take as long? Try going to the
address bar in Explorer, IE, or the Run box and type
\\target_computer's_name\share_name and see whether it's faster. If you're
currently using DHCP, you could try switching to static IPs and creating a
host file. That usually helps also.
