I got an error message everytime when I boot up the computer "floppy disk
failed (pin40)". However, I don't have a floppy disk installed. How could
this be possible? Then, It says press F1 to continue, then it boots safely
into window. I run window xp with three hardrives on my system. Latest
patches and bios updates, anti virus installed, checked my mb(soyo dragon
lite p4x400) website at knowledge base but cannot seem to find an answer.
However, if I install a floppy disk on my machine, the error message will go
away. Anyone know what is wrong? oh, I swich out the memory, still the
same problem. Thanks

Check the BIOS. It's possible that someone manually set a floppy drive
up in the BIOS and it's checking for it during POST, but since it's not
there, you get that error.
