After setting the homepage in internet explore to google.com and applied, my
buddy's internet explore keeps direct him to a different homepage. I read
this kind of problem before in here, but someone said it was a virus and
suggested a good fix by download some programs, but I forget how to do this.

Run Adaware and check your host file. Anti-virus is always a good idea
(mandatory these days).

TrendMicro (online) is good if you don't have AV installed.
