I also had a very similar problem to this. I had everything setup
properly but when I tried to connect remotely, it would
seem to log on properly and just disconnect me and close the connection.
It was very frustrating.
I found though that it was the NVIDIA drivers I was running. To allow
the remote desktop connection to work I had to disable the NVIDIA driver
service, at which point I rebooted and hey presto, I was able to log on
remotely.
May I also mention that the same drivers caused me problems on the
clients as well. Everytime I would log off the roaming profile would
not be updated. This too was due to the NVIDIA service.
Of course this is all academic if you don't use NVIDIA drivers, but
someone may find it useful...
PS. if you still want the NVIDIA Service, you can create a GPO that
launches the service when the user logs on and off which stops the
roaming profile problem...
