Hi all,

I was wondering how I go about finding out my MCP id. I have been studying
for my MCDST until work put me through a training course for 70-270 which I
passed around 7 weeks ago. I thought I may as well strike while the iron is
hot and do my 20-271 exam as I believe I am more than ready for it.

As yet, I still have not received my Welcome kit and when I goto the MCP
Member site to activate my Welcome kit (As stated on my test results) it
asks for my MCP id. I am a bit reluctant to book my 70-271 exam until I get
my MCP id just in case they end up becoming seperate if you know what I
mean.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Bob...

In theory, you should have received an email from Microsoft with your MCP ID
and your temporary login information on the mcp site. However, we have seen
many people complain about not getting their emails. I earned a new cert in
April and still have not received the confirmation letter from Microsoft.

Probably the best thing to do is to contact , or call
your regional service center. Make sure you have the documents from your
first test handy. They should be able to tell you right away what your MCP
ID is, and help you log onto the mcp site.

Once on the MCP site, you can request your welcome kit.

Ok 1st forget about the e-mail from Microsoft, they will never send it after
taking an exam, and 2nd forget about contacting them thru the
you will not get a response back.

I you are trying to get into the mcp site call the Regional Service Center
and ask them to send you the e-mail and BTW in the exam score there is a
"Candiate ID" that's your MCP ID

Good luck....
and Congrats

will result in an automatic reply with a case
number on your concern. I used it recently concerning a glitch in
Prometric's transmission of a test result to Microsoft and, while I
had to email the hell out of , my persistence
finally paid off with enough escalations to result in my test score(s)
being posted on my transcript.

Good Luck,

That is truly not my experience with them. Yes, I did get an immediate
automated reply. However, they responded to me in person on the next
business day, they were more than helpful, and they did what they said they
would do, when they said they would do it.

I guess they are getting backed up now that it appears that the normal
Microsoft emails are not going out.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I contacted the regional support center and the very helpful agent sent me
my email and talked me through logging into the mcp site. This all got
resolved in about 5 minutes.

I've now booked my exam for 70-271 for 20th Aug after I return from
Honeymoon. I wonder what my wife to be will think of me reading a MS Press
book on the beach...

Again Thanks
Bob...
