Does anyone know what sort of notification, if any, Microsoft sends out
after passing 70-271? Or can you confirm that notification only follows
passing both core exams for MCDST status?

thank you

If I understand your question, you should receive a note from Microsoft
anytime you earn a cert. If this was your first test, then you should earn
MCP, and receive a letter which will include your MCP ID so that you can get
into the MCP website. If this was not your first sucessful test, then you
will only get a notice from them when you earn another cert informing you to
go and request your welcome kit.

You can call Microsoft and they will transfer you to India and you can get
your MCP number so you can take your next test. Other than that you will
have to wait about 6 weeks for your MCP Welcome email.

Thank you to you both. I'll call and see what India has to tell me.

This was my first sucessful exam. I support a group of small businesses
under one roof as a "courtesy" to my employer (who takes very good care of
me). I'm trying to improve my IT skills and knowlege base and thought I
should start with MCDST (plus my employer is paying for my exams and for me
to be off to take them, why not go further with it!). After taking the
exam, I definitely consider myself entry level. I've worked with
computers/etc. at a "service" level for about 4 years. I'm enjoying the
learning experience and am very interested in the field. Any advice for a
beginner?
