Hi all

Im currently studying the courses below and will be going for the MCDST exam
at the end of May. As I work in Admin I dont get to work with Networks and
other areas covered by the course and when the lecturer is talking I find it
hard to fully understand some things. My confidence is suffering a bit
because of this. Are there any other books (apart from the books for the
course below) or websites etc that anyone can suggest to help me.

Hello Keith

When you say "the books for the courses below", do you mean the MS Press
guides? If not, these are well worth a look, as are the Exam Cram 2 books,
which I found complement the MS Press books really well.

With each of the MS Press books you get a 10% discount voucher for the exam,
plus you get a CD with a 300-question practice test on (you get a CD with the
Exam Cram books too, but these only have 50 questions).

Don't be afraid to ask your lecturer to explain anything you don't
understand - chances are there will be someone else in the class who is
feeling just as confused as you and will glad you asked!

Partner for Learning Solutions, you are probably using the Microsoft
Official Curriculum Kits; and you will definitely need supplements to
that. Take the advice of others and look into the Microsoft Press Books
for exams 70-271 and 70-272. I also purchased the Microsoft Press Inside
Out books for Windows XP and Office 2003. I did the latter because Ed
Bott et al rocks. Those are the best books for anything concerning the
material it covers.

Would you say the Office 2003 Inside Out book is sufficient for the Word and
Excel Expert exams, as well as the Specialist exams, or would you need to get
further resources for the Expert exams?

Absolutely. Without a doubt. The Inside Out series is the best series
that Microsoft Press has published.

I am finishing the Windows Vista Inside Out book as we speak. It is full
of valuable information. For one thing, I did not know that by default
Windows Vista uses 15% of your hard drive space for the System Restore.
The only way to change this is to deactivate the System Restore (not
recommended) or edit the registry, which Ed Bott et all shows you how to
safely do. It really is a great reference book.
