soon, and i'm not sure whether i'm fully prepared considering that i'm jus
using the exam cram text books....
should i buy the microsoft self paced training kits text books or are they
not necessary??
hw many questions do u get in the actual exam and are they harder than the
ones in the exam cram text books??
hw do i go about registering for the exams??
hope to hear from anyone soon.

Hi Juls,

Good luck on the exams. depending on your level of experience the MCDST
exams should not be too difficult and are a good place to start the path to
certifications I have posted extensively on exam and certification
choices on my blog and at www.certguard.com.

I have always been a big proponent of the MS Press Self-Paced Training books
for a number of reasons: firstly they are exceptionally well written, and
secondly they come with the Readiness Review Suite exam simulations, which I
have found to be extremely helpful in that they are always so much harder
than the actual exams. On networking exams I have found that a 55%-65% on
Readiness Review translates into a pass. I cannot tell you exactly what it
was on the MCDST exams, but I never scored better than 80% on the RR and did
quite well on the actual tests.

Though we are not permitted to tell you how many questions there are on any
given exam I will tell you that on every Microsoft exam that I have written
there have been between 40-60 questions. The Exam Cram books may be a little
easier or a little harder than the actual exam questions, depending on the
specific exam.

To register for the exam you should go on-line to one of the testing sites -
either www.pearsonvue.com or www.prometric.com and follow the instructions.

Good luck, and let us know how you do!

Hi Montreal MCT. I went to the link to your blog...and got an error message.
Any thoughts on me getting to your blog? I'd love to take a peek.

Hi Trish,

To be sure I tested this link
http://www.mitpro.ca/Blogs/tabid/59/...2/Default.aspx and it seems to work...,
but if not you can go to www.mitpro.ca and click on Blogs, then look for The
President's Blog.

Let me know how it goes!
