....and im quite nervous! ive been slowly reviewing stuff
for about a month, and in the past 2 days (and tomorrow
night, night before the test) ive really been getting
hardcore. ive been using the 'mcdst exams' book by tim
warner as well as the online training stuff (Free for 180
days!) here on microsofts website.

im entirely nervous and am starting to feel like when i
study i can no longer focus on the material. ive gone thru
it all many times now. luckily im taking part in the free
retake promotion (god forbid i need it!). i cant wait to
get this over with....i am eager to see my results should
i fail. im a pretty good test taker and have passed
numerous technical exams for motorola and SBC when i wasnt
entirely familliar with teh content, tho it seems
microsoft is espically good at using confusing type of
questions. im usualy pretty good at seeing thru that crap
but ill give them their own kudos for being challenging!

ive been using XP for a long time now and picking it apart
and have been super-reviewing the material for a while
now. i am as prepared as i am going to be. wish me luck!
ill report back with my thoughts after my exam (which im
sure ill pass!!!!)

Good luck!!!

Read my More 70-271 Thoughts post below on how to get over
nerves.

Eat very little before the test if you are afraid of
nausea. Do all you can to relax yourself. Before test
starts, they have an online tutorial on how the test is
done with questions on the solar system, do it, no matter
how asinine it seems, it relaxes you.

It is NOT your knowledge, it is just passing the test .

Good luck!!

cracking the books yet again. i better get to that now.
only about 18 more hours! thank god this thing gives you
the results right away, i dont think i could stand it
otherwise.

i passed!!! scored a 783. i got knocked for a loop by
probably 4 or 5 questions regarding the performance tab of
task manager, which i must admit i was not fully prepared
for. that and file auditing which had probably 2 questions
confused me a bit. the 1st section regarding the
installation of windows XP had what i considered to be
VERY easy questions, i got 100% on that section. i had
plenty of time to spare and i even went back and re-read
each and every question when i was done to check my
answers. i was planning on taking the 272 at the end of
the month but if i feel bold i might take it late next
week. my local test center was dead so id bet i could
probably book a test with short notice. i feel so much
more prepared now that ive been through the entire process
and im actually very excited about taking teh 2nd exam.
the practice tests at measureup.com for $115 while a bit
exorbitant are VERY helpful...by the time you take the
practice tests 5 or 6 times you should be getting 100%
which means you know teh answers to 150 questions. while
its possible a vast majority of that 150 might not appear
on your actual exams, its probable that many will. ill
never understand this test king BS and all that....i
throughouly enjoyed myself studying for these exams and
learning more and more. i have zero IT background and am
secure in my current career working as a telecom
specialist for SBC...i only wanted this cert for myself,
to see if i could mount the challenge and to further my
knowledge for my own uses of XP, which are themselves
quite deep and constant. i feel like a huge load has been
lifted from my shoulders to have gotten this exam out of
the way. ive learned ALOT (espically about networking) and
had many things explaned in my studies of which i was
familliar but didnt fully understand. thats right people -
- i enjoy learning more and more about computers. cant
wait to finish this cert!!!

Well apart from the fact that MS will take away your MCP if they find you
have been using braindumps, where is the satisfaction in passing if you know
most of the questions on the exam? Why not try test-king.com, I hear most of
the questions are in their dumps for a mere $39. Then you could pass with
1000, which I worked damn hard to get, though the questions did seem easy on
my second attempt at 70-272. Just think how proud you could be of yourself
then. If you want to be an MCDST, do yourself a favour and work for it,
don't use braindumps, then those of us in the industry may congratulate you.

On another note, I passed 271 with a 932, took 272 too early and failed with
a 672. I then got my arse into gear and passed with a 1000, but I have been
a CCNP for several years and worked with MS products for a long time.

Hey, eric. hope you did well.

by the way, there's cert exams for motorola and SBC? what
kinds of job functions do they prepare you for?

i just starting thinking about moving into the IT
industry; been working in another industry for awhile
now. so i'm trying to pick everyone's brains as much as
possible.

well i did do well -- 783. i take exam #2 in about 12
hours. studying hard right now.

the certification tests for SBC and motorola were almost
completley based on electical engineering. i was a test
technician at motorola (repairing pagers) and at SBC i am
a telecom specialist, working on specialzied phone company
telecom gear, as well as wiring constnatly. signal flow
understanding is basically teh most important skill you
can have
