Wireless Network Headache

Hello All,

I am having a nightmare of a time with my wireless network/internet. I am no einstein when it comes to computers, I know barely enough to be dangerous.

Equipment:

Siemens Speedstream 4200 Modem
Netgear RangeMax WPN824 wireless router

Problems:

We have been having problems with periodically losing connection to the internet. My wife has more disconnects with her laptop compared to my 360 which is connected wirelessly. Recently it had become worse with more dropped connections.

I did some decided to try to bridge the 4200 modem and let the router to the login/password. That worked brilliantly for about 24 hours. It would drop every min or so. On my wifes laptop it would show she was connected to the network..but no internet. When we would lose connection wirelessly we would also lose connection to a desktop that was hardwired to the router. This computer also has a wireless card.

I tried disconnecting everying and starting from scratch. Created a new network through the router set-up. Now we can view the network as available, are able to set it as automatic, try to connect entering wpa password. It will try to connect but doesnt..just goes back to the screen showing available networks with our network set to automatic.

Is there something I am doing wrong here. Have had the router was recently replaced by manufacutuer cause we thought it was a hardware issue.

Any Help is greatly appreciated. About ready to go get a new router.
