It starts the exact same shutdown sequence as clicking Start -> Turn Off
Computer -> Turn Off.

Tell you what roger. open control panel, then power options, then
advanced and tell me what you think the option called

"when I press the power button on my computer"

would do when its set to shutdown, which I believe is the default for an
XP installation.

It seems that *you* can't read. You don't need the screen to hit
Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice.
