Yes, I got that intermittently from a mobo where one of the bridge-
controller chips had gone on the blink. Fiddling with the battery might
clear it, might not, a few days later the ide controller stopped working
reliably alltogether (mostly not).

Thanks for the response, Peter. I have replaced the battery and I hope
that's an end to it. I really don't fancy the thought of the southbridge
chip going west (so to speak) and needing to replace the motherboard.
That would be a pain both in the arse and in the wallet.

We shall see what happens over the next few days. Hear soaping.

Thanks - confirms what I thought. Replaced.

Yes, I replaced the battery immediately - I keep several new ones on hand
(they are cheap enough) 'coz I replace them as a matter of routine on any
service jobs I do. As I said to Peter, I don't want to even THINK about
the idea of a muttiboard needing replaced - not a huge job, but
nevertheless a pain in arse and wallet.

I have had constant cmos errors from a dodgey power supply that wouldnt
always boot first time.

Certainly. Most of Woger's questions are quite slow.

That's simple projection of wishful thinking.

Otherwise it's a case of 1200bps fingers driven by 300bps thought
processes.
