Hey

ASP.NET 2.0

I'm about to start programming a new website at work. My boss want's me
avoid using the Membership system in ASP.NET 2.0 (probably because he don't
understand how it works...)...

Well the users will be devided into 2 categories. Normal user and
Administrators

How can I use LoginView to present the user with information based on these
2 categories? I mean I'm not using the standard Membership system in
ASP.NET, how can I get LoginView to work with this custom implementation??

Any advice on how to use SiteMap in this scenario is also welcome...

(wish I instead could use the Membership system in ASP.NET)

Best Regards

Its --all-- tied into Membership and Roles. Did you realize you were working
for an idiot before this one came up?

You can't use LoginView without Membership, its --all-- tied into Membership
and Roles. Did you realize you were working for an idiot before this one
came up?

You will have to write --everything-- yourself, an entire authorization and
access control system, all of the tables, all of the code, nothing in
web.config is there for you without Membership so all of that has to be
compensated for and you will have to give up the in-page control provided by
LoginView or code some form of replicating its functionality which will take
so long the know-nothing-know-it-all will start blaming you for not being
productive making you the scapegoat for his or her ignorance.

You've brought this "boss" up before. Why are you punishing yourself? Do you
have something to prove or something to protect? Those are the two questions
I would be asking myself on the way to making the decision to get the hell
out of what sounds exactly as I perceive; you becoming a scapegoat.

I would never work for anybody that did not trust me. I tried that long ago
and it never works out. Never. But I can see how he or she might get these
ideas when you do not use a spell checker. Just a constructive crit...
