How do I DELETE to end of file?

I background filled 3 columns in a 4-page excel spreadsheet. Now the file
goes past 3000 lines because every time I try to delete the rows with the
continuous background-filled columns, the silly computer keeps adding more
and more rows so that the background color always appears in the bottom two
rows. If I delete those the computer adds more and more rows, always leaving
the background fill.

How can I delete all those thousands of extra rows?
I need to send the file and want it to be small.
Also I need to accessd the right-hand scroll bar and at present its too
small to use as the file is pretending its very, very large.

The more rows I delete, the bigger the file gets!!! Please help me.
