If you're comfortable pulling to bits a desktop PC you'll have no problem
with pulling to bits a laptop. The major difference is that you have to
disassemble/reassemble a laptop in the specific order laid out in the
model-specific disassembly manual (which you can usually google for).
Don't just start unscrewing screws willy-nilly or things will turn to
custard really quickly.

A good place to start looking for a service manual is...
http://www.laptoprepair101.com/lapto...ervice-manual/

CPU's are usually at the end of the disassembly chain so by the time you
finally reach it you normally have the entire laptop in pieces. Good fun
on a rainy day.

Hehee! I've done a few too, not in a hurry to do it again.

Also, some laptops don't have removable CPUs, they're soldered onto the
mobo. (Or at least that used to be the case...)
