Now here's a turn-up for the books: after all the maneouvring and acrimony
over ODF versus OOXML, it looks like simple market forces are driving
Microsoft towards supporting ODF after all. And it's putting this ahead of
its own OOXML spec, that it fought so hard to get standardized.

According to Andy Updegroves blog The service pack will be distributed
in 2009 and will include the option to set odf as the default save format.
This link includes the MS press release.

Why? Because OOXML is too bloody complicated for even Microsoft to
implement, that's why

The really interesting point is that MS is finding itself on a playing field
which is getting more level by the day and the other players are putting the
peer pressure on.
