Default Toshiba L40-17U and XP?

X-No-Archive: yes

I just bought this laptop and am wondering if it would be possible to
install Windows XP Pro?

Laptop page:

You have to discern a whole pile of compatibility issues first,
very specifically drivers. There are drivers for much hardware
that are common to both operating systems and can be installed
on either XP or Vista, but some hardware will require specific XP
drivers. Just a brief look at the specs, the standout which maybe
tricky for XP drivers is the un-named intergrated audio chipset that
supports HD audio? Also the bundled software is many Toshiba
own brands and maybe "locked" to vista? But to the left is a Drivers
link that seems to indicate at least some drivers for that laptop that
are XP specific.

The specs are plenty good for XP...
just check with the MFG to be sure they have XP drivers for the chipset etc

Dude you need to slipstream the sata driver for xp on the xp disc by using nlite. It's not that difficult to do, but to get the sata driver for xp is another thing. They don't list the sata driver for xp at toshiba. Thats the prob i have. If I can find the sata driver for xp, i can install xp on my l40 yey
