Hello, I have 3 partitions and I wanted to set sharing of the third
one. I heard that admin sharing with $ were removed in vista, but then
I ran a command "net share" and saw that it is not true, because c$
and d$ are shared. e$ was not, so I wanted to set it, but it said,
that it is already used although it was not! So what does it mean? I
had to share this drive as "E" not e$...

Also, I think the question is incomplete and may be confusing? I am no
networking Guru, and I don't run Vista, so may freely be included amongst
the ignorant - but isn't it rather important to know what you are attempting
to share this 3:rd partion with, in order to answer?

Last time I set up sharing on Windows this is what happened I think, if I
started out setting up the shares in the wrong order. The '$x ' designations
are 'system' shares I believe, and you cannot use that manually. But I may
be wrong - I just do not remember.

Hm so I am sorry if it is that way, but I find it quite usuall that
having a post without answer for so long means nobody has read it :-]
The situation has changed now after few days of playing with system,
installing a lot of updates and such - when I display my shares with
"net share" command, the e$ share is now there! My custom created "E"
is there also so Ideleted it. This is interesting, I don't know when
and why my system started to share this drive I connected 2 other
drives to the computer so maybe windows realised they forgot to share
drive E: while I was playing with these other disks ...

Folks read it. But nobody replies "I read it but I don't have any ideas for
you." They just read and move on.
