Problems with laptop after XP repair

Hi there,
just wondering if anyone can help me. I had to use driver disk to repair
windows XP recently. It worked ok, and I didn't lose anything on my hard
drive, but I have had a couple of problems since.
Firstly, my laptop won't go into standby, and thre setting for it can't be
found the power options. None of the tips i've found so far have worked.
Also, scrolling up and down on a web page or a word document is now slow and
choppy, as is moving boxes around the screen.
I'd appreciate any advice because it's really annoying!!

Have you reinstalled the video driver?
Usually this is the issue and reinstalling the correct driver will resolve
the issues you are experiencing.
