Hello folks,
I have not taken any Microsoft exam before. Question: If one fails mcts 70-536 for example, how many times he can retake? Is there a mandatory time that he has to wait between retakes? youcancan@gmail.com |

You can take an exam as many times you need to take it to pass. Later this
month I'll be taking an exam for the third time (I got a 676 each time). However, after the second time, you must wait two weeks before the third and following times. For example, you can take an exam on the 1st, 2nd, 16th, and 30th (except, of course, in February). Once you pass an exam, you cannot take it any more (not that you would want to). HTH -- Larry J. Whether or not you take the same exam, or a recertification exam remains to be seen. Regardless, Larry answered admirably -- Michael D. Alligood, MCITP, MCTS, MCSA, MCDST The I.T. Actually, while Michael is correct that re-certification is required, I
believe that the every-3-years re-certification applies to the MCITP tracks rather than the myriad of MCTS exams. -- Wayne Anderson http://blog.avanadeadvisor.com/blogs/waynea/ "Michael D. To try and take a stab at more coherently describing the way that Microsoft
exam retakes work, the base answer so far is correct that to this point, you may ultimately re-take an exam as many times as you need to be fully prepared and pass your exam. The drawback here would be that someone could go and take the exam every day until they pass because they have memorized the questions. To curb this kind of serial retaking, and focus more on candidates ensuring they are prepared for the exam, Microsoft has modified the way in which re-takes are spaced. After the first failure, a candidate may "immediately" re-take the exam. After the second (and any other subsequent failure) there will be a two week cooling off period before you are allowed to return to re-take the exam. The idea here would be to make sure you are prepared the first time. Sometimes that simply is difficult. Sometimes we may miss areas in our preparation. I, too, have previously failed an exam. Make sure that ou are prepared before you return to the exam. Just because you CAN re-take the exam the next day, you do not have to. It can feel embarassing to re-take an exam, however failing it a second time is a greater risk than taking a few days to use your score report to focus on the areas where you may not be as well prepared. Remember that your exam will still be paid for every time you fail. -- Wayne Anderson http://blog.avanadeadvisor.com/blogs/waynea/ "" wrote: > Hello folks, > I have not taken any Microsoft exam before. > > Question: If one fails mcts 70-536 for example, how many times > he can retake? > > Is there a mandatory time that he has to wait between retakes? > > Wayne Anderson |
