Exacly11 Apple does say somewhere that you can get around the DRM
by writing to a CDR and then importing back as a MP3 then copying to
the MP3 player of your choice

So you copy it to a CD then rip it back, removing the DRM. How does that
stop anything? DRM on audio is a fundamentally flawed technology.

Sure, its just a speed bump to a committed pirate.
And an inconvenience to everyone else.

They rely on the fact that it takes time to do it, and if you recompress
the music you'll lose fidelity.

> DRM on audio is a fundamentally flawed technology.

You know that, I know that, and Apple knows that, but the suits at the
music publishers refuse to believe it.

Software piracy was a big problem long before the Internet was available.
No DRM system will ever stop peer-to-peer sharing, since it only needs
to be broken once to create a seed file, but it will stop a lot of
casual copying e.g. friends swapping music.
